Conflict-Free Minerals Policy Statement
(1) The term “conflict minerals” refer to metals such as gold (Au), tantalum (Ta), tungsten (W), tin (Sn), and cobalt (Co), as well as mica and other minerals, which originate from mines in conflict areas controlled by non-government military groups or illegal military factions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The illegal mining profits are stolen from citizens by the local military groups, who also inflict human rights violations and environmental degradation in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.(2) Our non-conflict minerals management and procurement policy: HPO expects all its suppliers to abide by the Responsible Business Alliance Code of Conduct and to only purchase materials from environmentally and socially responsible suppliers. We have taken action to carry out full investigations of our entire supply chain, so as to ensure our suppliers meet our expectations. The High Power Opto will commit to: 1. We shall not purchase conflict minerals produced in conflict areas. 2. We request all our supplies to conduct reasonable due diligence commercial surveys of their supply chain, to ensure the items supplied to HPO will not contain minerals originating from conflict areas.
